    swaping a 351W into a jeep

hey everybody I just came across this page and Im hoping you guys know more about this swap then the jp website. I bought an old running ford van with a 351w in it, now I dont know the year of the engine yet because it was swaped in to the van as well.                                                                                                     anyways I wanna put this engine into my 97 jeep wrangler and this is the first time I ever done this type of extream  mechanical work but luckly I have a friend thats gonna help. what kinda mod's should I do to this engine if its gonna be used for off-road? It wont be anything extream this also will be a daily driving jeep. should I mess with the engines components at all? what about manual tranny and t-case should I stick with all ford parts or use a jeep tranny and t-case with adapters? Im not worried about axles Iv got a 8.8 and 9inc to choose from but I think I might have to stick with the dana30 in the front for now.                                           thanks and any opinions and advice is welcomed.  giovanni

    Re: swaping a 351W into a jeep

I'm a big fan of stroker motors, you can get a cheap 3.85 stroker crank off E-bay for about $200.00 and use your same rods and some 302 .030 over flattops and get 393 c.i. out of it right off the bat. Add an RV cam, open the exhaust ports on the heads, an Edelbrock performer intake, a 4 barrel carb and a set of headers, and you'll have one big bad Jeep. What motor is in the Jeep now?

    Re: swaping a 351W into a jeep

I have seen 302's in older jeeps like a CJ5 but not sure on a newer model how you would go about getting a SBF in place. Probably alot of fabrication would be needed as this is not a common swap, however it could be done. Kudo's to you for picking a SBF and not the dime a dozen Chevy small block.
