Building a 347!!

    Building a 347!!

ok guys, Im new to the site and this is my first thread/post

    I have a 1978 302 block and I want to build a 347.
As of right now I don't have a car for it to go in but it will more than likely either be a Fox or a 65-68 Fastback
So that being said I want it to have some nuts behind it but at the same time not a strictly race engine.
At the same time I don't want this to be an outrageous build so I will be using a set of 1969 302 heads that I will gasket match.
A friend told me they are higher compression heads than the 78 heads that came on the engine.
But how much more power could I make with a set of (not to aggressive) Edelbrock aluminum heads?? Would it just be saved weight more than anything?

So what I need to know is what kind of cam should I get? Something that sounds nice but not to the point where it will barely idle.
I was on the comp cams site and they have so many different types to choose from. I will probably end up calling them but I figured I would ask here first.
I also want to go with a set of roller rockers. What brand tho?

At the end of the day id like to have about $1500 - $200 in a nice long block.

SO can anyone help me out???
    Thanks!
