    advice on a 351w buildup

im fixing to finish putting together a 75 351w.its already 40 over with new pistons but im wanting to use the earlier 69 heads.are those heads going to be fine with the stock 75 pistons, reason why im asking the valve dish is a little different between the two pistons and i understand the earlier heads are a little better.going to be a 10-1 compression ethanol engine with a crane h290 cam 3027 lift on both intake and exhaust with 216 duration

Yes those heads should be ok, but you would want to check the Piston/valve clearance to be sure.

If you stay with stock size valves you should be pretty safe but if you go up to the 1.9 - 2.0 intake size you will almost definitely need to do some kind of clearancing.

Sounds like an interesting build. Why ethanol?

yea im not changing valve size only reason why im not just buying 69 pistions as those stock 75 style 40 over pistions came with it.reason why im going e-85 1 last summer i got really tired of being screwed at the pump and while i know now its fairly reasonable 4.00 a gallon gas will be back and we need to get off foreign oil to quit sending it to terriorists and start using something that is actually usa made again plus e-85 makes more power

I would worry about denotation with the E85 and 10to1 compression because of the lower octane rating. Also the E85 will give you a big drop in MPG from gasoline. A few people I've talked to got as much as a 33% reduction in MPG with the E85 but most of the info I read says to expect around a 25% drop.

ethanol is not a lower compression its 105 octane.not worried bout mpg this is a hotrod ive got a 4cyl ranger when i wanna save gas.last summer burned me out on stupid gas and its bout time this country gets away from foreighn crap and actually make and use something we make ourselves so this is why all my old stuff im converting over to ethanol

61ford, I stand corrected! I'm sorry, I really have never looked at e85 and now I've learned something. I should have educated myself before I typed. It is indeed 105 octane.

It will be great to see how your engine build turns out. I'll watch (quietly) and maybe learn more.
