    crank fitment question 351w

building a 393 stroker .  have the rotating assembly and discovered that the crank is for a one piece seal and my 1972 351w block is a two piece seal.  I recieved two different answers from local race junkies.  one said its no problem just use a two piece seal and it will work fine.  second said that it wont work and I must either get aother block with a one piece seal or another crank (this is out of the question)  any good advice on who is correct will be appreciated before I go and spend money on machine work.  Thanks

I suspect theres a little luck and sealant in play for those cases that work. I'm sure it is possible with a bit of jury rigging but you do run some risk of a slow rear main leak.

Not 100% sure though because I havent been in that exact situation.

thanks,  i'm going to go ahead and try it.  we put the one seal crank in and it appears theres no problem with the lip on the crank.  going to cross our fingers.  will let you know how it turns out.
