    351w intake manifold/carb

    I'm planning to put an intake and a 4bbl carb on my 1980 windsor, and i was wondering:

    The horsepower gain?  The intake will be edelbrock torker II and the carb is a '71 autolite 4bbl w/mechanical secondaries, which is about 605cfm.  Carb is the Autolite 4300 series.

    And if I will be able to use the stock intake manifold bolts with this new edelbrock manifold?

    The 351 will also have shorty headers and glasspacks.  Otherwise, the rest of the motor is stock.

    Thanks, Dave

    Re: 351w intake manifold/carb

    HP gain will depend on how well the Torker II matches the rest of your setup.

    If youre going from a 2bbl and stock cast iron intake, I would say 15-35hp. That range is so big because I dont reall know how a stock cam will like the T2.

    Stock manifold bolts should be fine. Make sure to torque them up to specs, drive it for 1 heat cycle (start, warm up fully, drive around for a bit, cool fully) then retorque, and then check again after a few more cycles. If you dont the bolts can come a little loose. I also recommend using a bead of permatex black sealant instead of the cork gaskets front and rear. If you need any more tips on the manifold swap let us know.

    Thanks =D

    Would you have any suggestions for a cam?  Through summit or something.

    And the motor is out of a 1980 van - do you think this would have a cast iron or aluminum intake?

    thanks again, Dave
