    302 roller block

hi, i have a 302 efi in my ford and will soon be twin turbo'ing it.I have read that the roller block is only capable of handling 500hp before splitting. Is it worth it for me to use an early solid lifter block and convert it to roller? as ive heard these are stronger??

Or should i just use my block and keep with in the 500 hp limit?

    Re: 302 roller block

The early blocks are stronger but how much is debatable and depends on a bit of luck.

I would do one of the following

Keep to the 500hp limit, run a fat tune and dont rev it for extended periods

Get a mexican block (should be safer by maybe 100hp)

    Get an aftermarket block

Get a 351w stock block (generally good for 700ish or more)

    Re: 302 roller block

i was wanting to keep it 5L, but maybemore cc's couldnt do any harm..

Or are the blocks the same but cranks different?

    Re: 302 roller block

Both block and crank are different in 351's

    The block is alot stronger.

If you want to keep it 5L the only real choice is some kind of ford racing or after market block with a lot more meat in it.
