    351w in a 76 F100, Can it be done?

My old 76 F100 has a mild 302 on it;s third rebuild and it's time again.  I thought it would be an easy gain to switch to the 351w as it is so similar and even shares quite a bit of the parts.

Then someone at the wrecking yard where I had hoped to find some of the changeover parts told me it could not be done because there were no compatable oil pans.  At first I thought this was silly! Surely I was not the first to think of this swap and there was lots of room down there.  Then I started looking to find an oil pan that would work.

I have hit a wall of sorts, because I cannot find any information on the various oil pans Ford made nor any dimensions for the aftermarket ones. All the info is by vehicle make and model and no dimensions are given.  Of the two oil pans I have seen, one definately won't work and the other probably won't.  The problem is the steering linkage just behind the cross-member.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Hopefully I just soved the pproblem.  I just found and acquired a front sump 351w oil pan from a 1970 Ford Galaxy.  The drain is on the side corner.

Thatll probably sort you out as I think 351's have a pretty similar sump design to 302's
