    302 or 351w

hi, im building a twin turbo setup. am aware of the 500hp limit and dont want that in the back of my head while giving it heaps. Anyways i want a stronger block. My options are get an older 302, get a mexican 302, or use a 351w as they are stronger. To do this i have been told my lower inlet wont fit as 351 has taller deck, can i make my inlet fit somehow as i dont want to change it. Also how much would a 351 cost (suit rebuild)?

Also apparently i need a different balancer as 502 use 50oz and 351 need 25oz?

To me the 351 option sound the best as i get more cc's and stronger block????

    Any help appreciated.

    Re: 302 or 351w

What car is it going into?

You might be able to get lower engine mounts to offset the deck height.

Another possibility might be to mill some off the top or bottom manifold, but that might get a bit expensive.

Of course you could also try a different hood but I am guessing you dont want to go that route.

A 351 for rebuild shouldnt cost much more than a similar condition 302.

no no, bonnet clearance is not the issue, the 351 has taller deck height which will give problems when fitting inlet manifold.?!

    Re: 302 or 351w

I think you can get adapter plates for 302 intakes, but at the worst you could get a 351 truck intake of an explorer or something for not too much moolah

    Re: 302 or 351w

yeah ive heard about those plates. Any idea of price. I think there is only one company making the??

I think it will be very hard for me to find a truck lower intake?

Will my 302 explorer intake be too restrictive on the 351? Ill be using my gt40p's and will be twin turbo'd?

    Re: 302 or 351w

I found a few 302/351 adapter plate manufacturers or sellers:

    http://www.pricemotorsport.com/html/body_intake_adapters.html

    http://www.flatlanderracing.com/pmespacers-01.html

I suspect this one is what youre looking for:

If youre going for high hp maybe you should look at an aftermarket 351 intake from summit or somewhere. Im sure it would do ok with the 302 intake because of the turbos, just that the same boost would be a bit less efficient.
