    GT-40p install on stock '91 302 mustang

    Hello all,

I am new to these engines...I am a Mopar convert to be honest:) I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with repesct to what I need to do this head swap. The GT40p's need to be overhauled since the have origonal hardware with 120K on them. 302 is out of a stock 1991 Mustang GT. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Stock91

How is the head change going? All the research I've done says that what you want to do is a direct bolt on replacement.

The problem is the stock headers won't bolt up to the "P" heads

I thought stock or aftermarket headers would bolt up to P heads, just that they would be shifted a little bit (yes, making it unable to use an existing exhaust systtem).  But won't they acturally bolt up, if for example you were going to install a new exhaust?  Could you actually get access to your plugs and your header bolts?  I don't know, just curious, because I've never heard info abotu the "P" heads  needing their own type of headers .  Tx, Walt

Did the "P" heads come on the 5.0 Explorer? That's what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong. Going off this then wouldn't we want to get headers or exhaust manifolds from a Explorer?

Yes, the Mustang headers will bolt up.  I am sory for misleading you.

My understanding is that the "P" heads are off from the stock heads and the stock replacement exhaust won't bolt up

In other words, custom exhaust is in your future
