    1966 Fairlane with a 429?

I previously had a post about a 351W or a 302 that I was going to put into my 1966 Fairlane.

Well, I have just come across a 429 with the casting number of C9VE-B.  I have never heard of this casting number and was wondering if ya'll think it would possibly work.  I know about the 429CJ and I am pretty sure that this isn't a CJ.  He only wants around $300 bucks for it so I am wondering if it is worth the effort.  It will still be a daily driver, so, with the gas prices I may be making the wrong choice.  My goal is a low torque, tire-burning daily driver that will still be safe on my wallet.

Let me know what ya'll think.

    hey there

same engine as i had in a 64 compact real tight fit had to modify strut towers but very powerful engine. It head casting no.s are c9ve as well and has compression ratio of 11to1 factory.Think they were called thunderjet engine.I put doae heads on mine (lucky find) which were cj items and made it produce some big numbers only prob was traction and breakin diffs. $300 is good price but i suggest a nice 351 for ya car as it will prolly be a bit nicer to drive

    good luck

the shock towers on the 66 fairlane wer built to handle the 390 fe engine the 390 is about 4 inches wider than the 429 so you will have room you'll need to use truck mounts from a 460 you will not want a low gear for sreet use so fuel usage want be much more than a 351 windsor.flathead V8
