  • Re: 5.0 efi into a 78 truck.

302truck:For horse power gains I was thinking more of the throtle body and injectors. You are gonna see little to no gain with those items on a stock motor.  In fact larger injectors will require an ECM reflash, and possibly a mass air flow system.  For the $500 you're gonna spend on those items you may be better off putting the ...

  • Re: 351 Engine Rebuild

Heads and cams depend a little on you HP goals and budget - can you give us some info on what you would like hp wise or $ wise?   Stroking it out basically means to increase the length of the stroke of the engine. This is usually done by replacing the crankshaft with a different one (different design) and possibly the rods/pistons as well ...

  • Re: 302 exhaust port

I'm assuming youve got the heads off.  That bump (thermactor bump) youre talking about can usually be ground off as its just there to ''fix'' emissions. You will gain a reasonable amount of hp for the effort. Dont go nuts porting beyond that if you're not sure what youre doing.

  • 5.0 H.O. Buildup

I'm building up a 1992 5.0 H.O. engine out of a mustang to put in a fullsize Bronco. I purchased it complete, but dissasembled. The pistons and the crank are alittle rough from shelf ware, and it had a blown head gasket caused by a pinhole in one of the water plugs. So, I'm starting off with a bare block. I spoke with a machine shop and they ...

  • Re: 302 heads

ranger_sohc:Well I am graduating this week from my Automotive technology class and there is also a machine shop class that I am pretty sure I can get most of the machine work done at and get new guides and and valve job for just the cost of parts. I know the M's would be more work but I like the idea of a Boss clone engine or clevor as I ...

  • Re: What is the difference in 1962-82 to 1983-91 302w engines

there are more differences i have just found out. the early block has a 8.206 deck hieght, and the later block has 8.229 deck hieght. you can have problems with later model heads on an early block. the intake will sit to high and not seal the gaskets. i used fel pro 1250 and the bottom of the ports were partly open so it sucked oil from the ...
